Demonstrate a range of effective interpersonal skills

I have done group work with explorer scouts, I did group work such as putting up tents in groups , we were effective at putting up the tent, starting fires and cooking food.
When I was doing my gcse in catering for one week we made a restaurant and had to run that restaurant for a full week preparing the food setting tables and cooking food. We worked well as a team making table decorations. Working together to cook the food beforehand preparing it for service. We also took turns working in the main kitchen and the desert kitchen we also all had to have a go at working at service, when we worked in service we had to make napkins as a group ironing each one and making them into a fancy shape. When working in the service part we had to work together to serve the tables food on time and make sure they all had drinks and all the customers where happy.

While working at oxfam we work as part of a team to make sure that all the tills are being operated and the sorting area is having stuff being sorted.

I am working at a joinery company and i work together as a group to get work done i usual y help people move stuff and do jobs to speed up the process of making something like pre drilling holes and moving rubbish to the fire, i also go to the bank so that a member of the office does not need to go to the bank. Unit 1 Communication and employment skills

Unit 1 Communication and employment skills
Understanding the personal attitudes valued by an employer
Health and safety
·         Health and safety is in every job, so employers look for employees that have good knowledge of health and safety.
·         This is very important as over 200 people are killed each year from accidents in the work place and two million are injured in the workplace (the ones reported) each year.
·         Good health and safety knowledge is important as if there is a possible danger in the work place it should be reported and then sorted out, such as if there is a puddle in the workplace it should have a sign put up and have it dried up by a cleaner or a member of staff.
·         In a working environment that requires you to lift stuff it is important to lift objects correctly, an employer will look for this or teach them before they start the job as they do not want an injury in their workplace.
·         Having a worker that has good knowledge in health and safety will benefit the workplace as less accidents should happen as they will assess the situation before preforming an action such as lifting a heavy pan of boiling water could require you to have another employee help you lift the pan and wear proper safety equipment.
·         It also helps the employer for his/her staff to have good health and safety knowledge as accidents in the workplace could cause finical loss, and if someone has to go on sick pay because there was an accident in the workplace that is someone you’re paying and not getting any money back off them because of an accident in the workplace.
Time management
·         It is important for the person you are employing to have good time management, if they do not they might fail at tasks they have been set and not be able to complete the job.
·         Such as in a Website devolvement company they might have to have a website completed by a certain date and if the employees don’t have good time management it may cost the company money to have the problem set right.
·         Having good time management also gets more done as you will have the next task to do which could motivate the workforce to get the first task done before starting the next one as they may get paid per task they complete not on an hourly contract.
·        Also the employee should tell them that if they don’t have good time management they could lose their job
Confidence
·         An employee having good confidence in a job is very important.
·         Such as in a call centre you need to be confident with the person who is calling you because if you are not confident with the person who is calling you they may not be as helpful and get frustrated with the service that the company is providing.
·         In a ICT environment it is important to have a confident work force so when they run into problems they can solve it themselves.
·         A confident member of staff also is good at working with other people and this is helpful in team working situation such as devolving a website as that has many elements and could require working with several members of staff and different departments such as graphics design coding of the website and css departments.
Problem solving
·         Having a member of staff who is good at problem solving is key, because if a member of staff cant problem solve it could mean they rely on other people telling them what to do.
·         Staff who can problem solve are useful as they get more stuff done for their work and can work independently without asking for help.
·         Such as if a chef has one of his elements of the food taking longer to cook than the rest of the food he could make his own choice whether to turn the heat of that food up or lower the rest so all the elements are ready to be assembled
·         In a computer industry someone who is good at problem solving is good as they could repair the problem with the computer they are on without having to have a technician come and repair the computer repair the computer for them.
Team working
·         It is important to have good team work skills, as when people have good team work skills it increases the efficiency of the work force and reduces arguments.
·         Having good team work also increases the amount of ideas in the workplace, as more people will have contribute the ideas and get rid of the ideas that are bad as more people will give opinions to the group.
·         Having good team work also supports the members in the group and can build strong bonds between the staff which increases work productivity as there is more confidence in the group increasing work productivity.
·          Having good team work skills allows people to have the confidence to delegate tasks to the people in the group increasing productivity.
Verbal and written communication skills
·         Verbal and communication skills are important for staff of a company to have as they have to communicate with other staff and people who are using there is service.
·         A restaurant has to have good verbal and written skills because they need to communicate with chefs the customers and the waiters.
·         The waiters need to write down what the customers want to eat and the chefs need to read.
